Seismic Sensor Control Switch
Each year more than 500 earthquakes claim lives and damage buildings. Organizations increasingly worry about security and safety relating to natural disasters, accidental explosions or those caused by terrorism. To maximize safety in the event of a disaster, Novacomm has developed a low cost, easy-to-install earthquake/ explosion sensing device, the Seismic Sensor Control Switch.
This patented single device releases access control systems and initiates emergency exiting procedures to immediately release persons trapped behind locked doors. It also assists with evacuation by providing specific safe paths of travel.
In an emergency seismic event where cutting off electrical power to machinery and production lines is required, the Seismic sensor Control Switch is also the solution.
In situations where machines and production lines need to be shut down in the case of an earthquake or explosion event, the Seismic Sensor Control Switch can cut off power and reduce additional collateral damage and injuries.
This tri-axial sensor system detects and identifies earthquake seismic patterns and/or explosions that affect enclosed spaces. The system provides an immediate signal to perform any number of life safety tasks or to initiate specific disaster mitigation programs and equipment.
Using state of the art technology, equipment, and software, this device has been developed to meet and integrate into existing National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and ICC codes. This previously hard to find technology offers two additional layers of alarm protection to both the private and public sectors.
The system consists of a UL approved type 2 power supply, an umbilical, and a NEMA 4 liquid tight steel enclosure containing the seismic sensor head. The device is designed to operate as a simple autonomous alarm. All alarm signals are output as either normally open or a normally closed circuits.
