Bandit Barriers are largely ineffective in dealing with the determined or desperate robber with a weapon. The crime is being perpetrated inside the bank’s walls with large numbers of potential hostages in the immediate vicinity of the crime. 6. Bandit Barriers can be installed legally only if emergency exiting plans are included..
Emergency exiting is significantly impacted by the installation of a Bandit Barrier. Many Bandit Barrier projects get into trouble because the new height of the barrier and the doors accessing the teller line create a “room” behind the teller glass. Emergency exiting is then compromised.

Bandit Barriers are sometimes installed without permits or drawings, putting the facility in legal jeopardy if there is a structural failure or code issue. 8. Bandit Barriers can hamper existing under counter utilization and force the closure of some teller windows.
Access to critical wiring, storage and machine room is compromised with the bandit barrier unless the barrier is designed-with the original plans.
